"Why do I need a fitness class? I dance, I dance a lot! Isn’t that enough?"
Well, you know all those cool moves you see really good dancers doing, and then you try them, and they just don’t work? You can’t make them happen, you don’t feel the way they look.
Do you wonder how they move so gracefully?
...how they keep from getting dizzy after so many turns?
...how they hold that beat so long without falling over?
...how they can dance so fast?
...how they start and stop on a dime?
...how they dance so seamlessly with partner after partner?
...how they can dance without aches and pains?
...how they. . . .
Have you ever thought — maybe it’s because they do some other training — “cross-train?”
Maybe it’s because they practice some kind of fitness that adds to their dancing and their health.
I hate to get sweaty in a smelly gym — but I’ll dance till I’m slimey — I’ve danced for a long, long time, and all through that dancing, I’ve continued to take classes. And then some years ago I discovered that adding strength, balance and flexibility training to my dancing made me a better dancer and improved my overall health. I discovered Pilates. And with Pilates I’ve become stronger, more flexible and more fluid in my ability to move and dance — and I want to share it with you.
What’s Pilates?
Pilates is a fitness technique based on anatomy, exercise science and body mechanics that, when practiced, strengthens your “core” — basically your torso — and your extremities (neck, arms, wrists, legs, ankles, feet) to improve your posture, safely increase your flexibility, improve your balance and stability, and your ability to move.
World class dancers and athletes have used Pilates for decades to improve their performance, to rebalance and rehabilitate their bodies. You can, too.
I’m offering Pilates classes for people just like you. Come try it out. I think you’ll like it.
